Dog Days of WINTER???
Someone needed some doggy, I mean, daddy time today. Can’t reveal the “exact” location of where we spent our time together….(wink, wink). In reality, Bubba needed to go back to the Vet this morning, so I headed over to my brother-in-law Mike’s house at 7 a.m. to pick them both up. Bubba was having some mouth issues, and the Vet felt that a good teeth cleaning might provide some more information. While he was “under the gas” we also had them clip his nails way back, clean out his ears real good, and do a close shave around his mouth. Bottom line is that there was no major problem with his mouth other than a large gum overlap in the front of his mouth that had much tartar buildup in it. He also has a “dog acne” around the bottom of his mouth that he is going to be given an antibiotic for.
In the meantime, while Bubba was out having fun at the Vets, someone else needed some special attention, and Skruffy had just what was needed…I mean, I had just what Skruffy needed….some special time for Dad and Skruffy. (Skruffy is the one with the black skin, just in case you needed some guidance on that….)
Well, I, I mean, she really enjoyed her visit today. And she was such a good girl…no barking, no one saw her, no evidence of her special, “short” all morning visit. Boy, I sure feel….I mean, she sure feels better now! Pictures of Bubba you ask? Who’s Bubba???
Well, if you read yesterday’s blog, you know that we went to Cracker Barrel yesterday. I “thought” we were going to get out of there without a purchase at the “Country Store”, but just after the lady said, “No, we don’t have it in that size….”, she adds, “…but I can call another store to see if they have it.” Sure enough, the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store a few miles away from the secret hiding place, I mean Condo, had it, and would hold it for pickup for Friday. So we sneak our special visitor back out to the car and head to the Country Store. After that, we called the Vet and Bubba was ready for pickup. This caught me off guard, and without camera, so that’s why Bubba is not “shown” today…but he is much better, we spent some time at a park, and in the car while waiting for the antibiotic to be filled, and both were dropped back off at Mike’s house around 4 p.m. ….which ended our Dog Days of Winter…and oh what a day it was!

We know all to well about the teeth cleaning...all our pups get regular teeth cleaning once a year! In fact, we have a budget line item for it. Having four pups is a wee bit expensive, but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteBubba has always had ear problems, comes with being a Cocker, first time he has had a mouth problem, and the acne around the base of his mouth is a new one on us.
DeleteI'm sad for you and Marcia - it's the pits to have to just 'visit' your children. Glad Bubba is feeling better. I had to have almost all of Eleanor's teeth pulled (she only has the four canines left) due to a gingivitis that we couldn't get rid of. Even after several courses of antibiotics, those pesky little bacteria just kept giving her a bad time. Now, she just mainly gums her food but doesn't seem to mind a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe would do just about anything for our fur babies...they always give and rarely ask for anything except for more love.
