Beaver Creek, Yukon Territory -- Green light through customs!!!

Just a quick post to say that we made it through customs without any problems and back in Canada again.  As we past through Beaver Creek and saw that we had solid 3G Internet connection on our aircard, I turned around and pulled into the Beaver Creek RV Park.  $33 for electric and water, pay and then find your own spot...that comes out to $25 American dollar...not bad at all.

To family, just a reminder that we don't have cell phones in Canada...should be back in Alaska on Monday night.  Internet is spotty, but we should have it tomorrow night too in Haines Junction.

As for crossing the border...some of you will remember that we had a heck of a time getting into Canada back in mid-May just above Bonner's Ferry in Idaho at the Eastport Entrance.  Today the border guard was more forth coming about why they stopped us.  He said that there is a person with the same first, middle and last name as me who is "Red Flagged", but has a totally different birth date as I do.  He said, "You had problems coming into Canada back in 2012, right?   I said, "No sir, I had troubles this year back in May when they searched us...never tried to get into Canada back in 2012."   "Oh, I see...the birth date is different...there is another person with your name, middle name too, who is the problem, but not the same birth date.  If they give you problems coming back from Haines, tell them to look at the birth date."   I thanked him, and we drove on...at least now we know the "WHY" to what took place back in May.

  1. Sad to hear of your wife's pain. Hope the rest of your travels go OK. Just got caught up on your posts tonight, been side tracked I guess.

    1. Thanks Zip...it has been a bit of a struggle since we saw you in Seward. We hope to relax in Haines before really setting out on the long trip home, which I hope includes seeing the bears in Hyder!

    1. Did some research and there is a guy with my name out of Oregon, but I don't know what he was arrested for (and I am not going to pay the $19.99 to find out). He is a good 15 years younger than I am too.
