Hard to believe that it has not even been a month since we got back from California... My brother Roger texted me Monday to say that they had to evacuate from Alta due to a fire nearby...I texted back "We have another hurricane coming out way...". He went home the next day...we head home tomorrow (Saturday) to a condo that has no power. Been that way since 4 pm Wednesday and who knows when it will come back on.
As far as we know, all of our friends and relatives are fine..some were flooded, most lost power for some duration, but all is well. To see the devastation has been heartbreaking, to hear stories of people saving others, people helping others, has been heartening.
We plan to park van in the condo area, run the generator to provide AC and cooking what we can salvage out of the freezer, and wait...
Got to see Marcia's daughter, granddaughter, and 2 great-grandchildren...that was nice.
The main thing is that you are all safe. Since the Freezer has been close since you left, you might be able to salvage some food by cooking it ASAP.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe!
It's about time.
Lucky for us, I had a leg of lamb in there that was still frozen, and kept other things frozen...everything was at least 35 degrees or colder...even had ice in the ice tray. Did lose Cottage Cheese and Yogart that was in the Fridge...not too bad of a loss compared to others.
DeleteIf anyone knows about cooking that food, you do. Hoping you get power soon.
ReplyDeleteIt all turned out better than I thought it would.
DeleteSo glad you didn't get any real damage.
ReplyDeleteWe feel both Blessed and Lucky...
DeleteWe were so worried about family and friends down there. We had 3 RV couples parked here for the duration. Two in the RV sites, one plugged into house electric from back porch. Two left yesterday, the other this morning. Our first Boondockers Welcome guests from 4 years ago live in the senior complex that had fatalities. We talked to them right after the tornado struck and they lost a carport. It was so soon after they did not realize how tragic it was. Wonderful that you and yours are safe.

DeleteI don't know why Google will turn people into anonymous...happens to me too. So sorry about your friends lost someone in their facilities....that is so sad.
