The leg to the Thunder Valley Casino is surely going to be the shortest leg of our trip…an entire 15 miles from my sister’s house.
We are at the back of the truck/RV/over-flow parking area, not far from some patch of grass for the dogs. That is the casino in the far left of the picture above. And yes, the skies are real blue today!
Looking to the east-northeast the clouds are over the Sierra Nevada mountains. The wind is light, just enough to blow the smog out, but not enough to keep the foothills and mountains with a clean view. Not sure when we are going to head out tomorrow, but it will be when we feel like it, probably early for us. Trying to get into Oregon by a hundred miles or so. Figure if we take off early, we get ahead of those returning home for work on Tuesday…although most of those are going to be going south until we get closer to Oregon. But for now, the first leg of our Alaska trip is complete…15 miles down, 7,700 more to go, give or take a few hundred.

On the road to Alaska - how exciting! We're going to be in the I-5 corridor, near Longview on Tuesday, Tacoma by Thursday and Seattle after that, so let us know if you'll be traveling that way and stopping anywhere for the night. If you have enough energy for a get together we owe you a dinner! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are SO going to love it!! My only tip to everyone is keep to the right as much as possible, go slow through the gravel sections and always pull over (or slow down with your right turn signal on) to let the big trucks go by, all to avoid broken windshields. The trucks are on a schedule so I never let my rig hold them back!! I also had my insurance deductible set to the lowest possible, but never needed it! ENJOY!!! Can't wait to see pics!!
