Mom’s Baby Steps – Computer Hickups

No pictures of mom today, but she did get up a couple of times…took a few steps.  I could tell that it really hurt like “heck”, but she drove through the pain and did what she needed to do.  Doctor came by and told her that day one is the worse, day two is better, day three even better….Marcia had the same experience two years ago so we know what he was talking about.  Tomorrow we have to check out a few Skilled Nursing places where she can have her physical therapy for a week or so.  There are four within 4 miles of their house, and I am confident we will find one.  Wish “they” would have given her a list prior to today so this could have been worked out ahead of time…but mom was thinking it would be done at Sutter, which has a physical therapy area, but it is for spinal conditions…not for knee replacements.

Took my laptop to the hospital this morning so that I would have something to do as mom rested.  Well, the darn thing would not fire up…nothing….nada!!!  The caps lock has a little light, and it would blink five times. Nothing on the screen whatsoever.  When I got back I did some quick research and it says that I have a system board failure.  So I am going to find a refurbished computer just like I have, transfer the hard drive into it, and I will be back up and going.  Then I will get a new motherboard and put into it for use as a backup.  I am currently on a backup laptop that we brought with us…but it does not have Adobe Essentials and a few other programs…nor doe is have all the pictures over the past 3 years.  Of course I had a back-up to it all…in the other motorhome, the one that burned up. I just never did get around to backing it up.  The good news, the hard drive is probably ok, and I will get it all back.  Fingers Crossed, of course.

    1. Thanks. They say the faster they are able to stand and walk, the better the recovery goes, we sure hope that this is the case with her.

  2. I hear the therapy is rough and if you don't do it, you'll never have good range of motion. My heart goes out to your mom.

    1. Marcia had this same surgery 2+ years ago. With her MS they told her she would be on a walker the rest of her life...which didn't happen. Yes, it takes hard work and drive...and mom has the drive to do it, that's for sure.
