I lived 10 years in Fairbanks and 5 in Anchorage, with a fair amount of bush travel for work. I hesitate to make too many comments, but have to say that touristic viewpoints are likely not the same as those who are residents of the far north. It has a special appeal and is a special way of life. Yes, the roads are not in tip-top shape, due to permafrost and other factors. No, you won't always see wildlife, but it's there, etc., etc. People are almost always friendly and they are willing to help in what could become a life/death situation when you're stranded. It's not life in the "lower 48"! It's a slow down and enjoy what's in front of you life. I always called living in Alaska the ultimate personal freedom.Annette Schneiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15459841866791345378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7753182836926532585.post-7273290353202006922016-08-19T10:00:16.743-04:002016-08-19T10:00:16.743-04:00Yes Nancy, so amazing. I don't think the roads were quite that bad when I went, but there were some long stretches of gravel. My favorite were all the animals ... just right there along side the road!!Nancy Kissackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03225296192386107554noreply@blogger.com
