Zephyr Cove — Lake Tahoe

Zephyr Cove Resort -- RV Park & Campgrounds

Zephyr Cove Resort is managed by Aramark by special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service, and that is where we find ourselves for the next two nights…then back to Granite Flat again.  Although Zephyr Cove is only 40 miles from Granite Flat and into Nevada, it took us 90 minutes to get here due to road construction, a trip through Raley’s parking lot just to see that they did not have a parking place for us, and a trip through Safeway’s parking lot just to turn around because I was on the wrong side of the road to pull into the RV lot.

Many of us harp on “Resorts” being attached to RV Parks, but in this case it is a true resort with access to Lake Tahoe, a nice set of cabins and a lodge, the RV park, and…

…lake cruise ships, the M.S. Dixie II (left) and the Tahoe Queen (right).  Essentially they take you out on the water, show you around, bring you back.  Both also have a dinner cruise.  There are also a couple of yachts.  On top of all that, they have water craft rentals, and horseback riding.  For us, we just wanted full hookups, Internet for church, long long showers, and a backdrop of Lake Tahoe is just an addition. Of course, if you are at Lake Tahoe and have hookups, you pay for it….about $65 per night after taxes in our case.

We did score as to where they put us in the park.  We are along the side, so no one behind us.  Neighbors on the driver’s side are a nice couple about our ages, and there is a nice buffer between us…even though it is closer than we like.  On the passenger side we have not seen these folks, but they are further away….and there is a dog walk path which is between them and us and the path goes along the back of us and up into the park about six sites or so.  So having this green box full of empty doggie poop bags is a nice plus for us.  And the way everyone is jammed into the rest of the park…only having these two neighbors and two neighbors to the front of us is a great thing.

Oh, did I mention our view of Tahoe?  Oh well….

  2. Thank you Nancy...I sure like Tahoe, although I don't like the crowd (but it is better than the 100+ temps down in the valley.)
